FAQ

The most common questions about Sims 4 custom content – short, practical answers.

How do I install custom content in The Sims 4?

Download the file from the creator’s page, unpack the archive if needed, and put the package files into the Mods folder: DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4Mods. Script mods (.ts4script) go into the same folder.

How do I enable mods in the game?

Game Options > Other > tick “Enable custom content and mods” (and “Script mods allowed” if you use them), restart the game.

What is the difference between CC and mods?

CC (custom content) is mostly cosmetic – hair, clothing, furniture. Mods change game behavior – animations, gameplay rules, frameworks like WickedWhims.

What do I do after a game patch?

Check the creator’s page for an update, especially for script mods. Broken CC after a patch is normal until creators update; the 50/50 method finds the culprit fast.

How do I find a broken mod?

Move half of your Mods folder out, test, repeat – the 50/50 method. Tools like Better Exceptions or Sims 4 Studio help identify the exact file. See our install and troubleshooting guide.

Do I need a specific DLC for an item?

Some items need a pack (for example a hair that uses Cats & Dogs meshes). The card keeps the creator’s requirements – when unsure, the creator’s page has the details.

Why does a creator’s page open instead of a direct download?

Files always live with their creators – that way you get the current version, and updates and support stay in one place.

Is custom content safe?

From the creators listed here, generally yes: items come from established community pages. Still use an antivirus and download only from the creator’s own page.

How often is the catalog updated?

New items are added every day; existing cards keep pointing to the creator’s page, where the actual file is updated by the author.

What is the 18+ section?

Adult-oriented items live in a separate, marked and age-gated category – Adult (18+).

I am a creator – how do I get listed or removed?

See the creators page: updates, additions and removals are handled quickly.
